My wife is a genealogist (among other things). My appreciation of genealogy has blossomed since it became apparent to me that one of the most rewarding aspects of this activity is the discovery of fascinating people, their life’s work, their intriguing stories and insights into the historical events of past times. The wars fought, the diseases they contracted, the estates owned, tragic loss of life, etc. The pioneering spirit is also so evident when you realize what life experiences that some of our ancestors experienced. Sanford Robinson Gifford was recently uncovered in my wife research. Being an amateur painter, I am always impressed by the technical skill and proliferation of individuals like Sanford Robinson G.
