It’s hard to explain to anyone who has not owned one, but the Portuguese water dog changes your life forever. You will never be the same. The intelligence of the eyes, the character intensity, the independence – I could go on ad nauseam. If you are a Porty owner, you understand. For those non-dog lovers, you may not see what the fuss is all about, I suppose, but just look through these images and tell me that there is not something there, even for you!

I’ve known a couple of Portuguese water dogs, although they were bigger.
Lovely looking, non-shedding, intelligent, lively, water-loving and affectionate. Relatively cheap to run as well. Apart from the colour he reminds me of my Teddy. Died 8 months ago, I miss him. See if he reminds you of her.
