Lake Bled

This is a 11 by 12.5 inch watercolor on Arches 300 lb fine grain cold pressed paper.

This is a representational image of Bled island (Blejski otok) situated in Lake Bled, Slovenia, in Julian Alps of the Upper Carnelian Region of the country. A 17th century church sits on top of this small island which makes it one of the most photographed scenes in the region. Slovenia is high on our list of places to visit. The original image from which this is based likely would have contained mountains surrounding Lake Bled, but I think this painting is more effective by eliminating the background scenery thereby focusing on the island and church.
