Lake Bled

This is a 11 by 12.5 inch watercolor on Arches 300 lb fine grain cold pressed paper.

This is a representational image of Bled island (Blejski otok) situated in Lake Bled, Slovenia, in Julian Alps of the Upper Carnelian Region of the country. A 17th century church sits on top of this small island which makes it one of the most photographed scenes in the region. Slovenia is high on our list of places to visit. The original image from which this is based likely would have contained mountains surrounding Lake Bled, but I think this painting is more effective by eliminating the background scenery thereby focusing on the island and church.

Fujiyoshida Streetscape

In Watercolor.

Japan is my 7th most visited country (16 times). Consequently, I have had many adventures and experiences with both Japanese and non-Japanese friends and colleagues from business, academic and medical backgrounds across the country. Japan is a country that is replete with amazing images wherever you look, but I chose this image of this small city at the base of Mount Fuji. I have yet to visit this place – perhaps that might happen if I do a 17th trip….
